Weather News: The Meteorological Department (IMD) says that in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Punjab, arrangements should be made to drain water from the fields, so that the situation of water logging can be avoided.
IMD i.e. India Meteorology has expressed the possibility of heavy rain in many states including Punjab, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh. Along with this, the Meteorological Department has also alerted the farmers and issued advisories related to crops. It is estimated that due to Western Disturbance, the weather may change rapidly in the Western Himalayan region and Northern Plains from March 1 to 3.
IMD’s advice to farmers
IMD says that farmers of North Rajasthan should harvest wheat, jowar and mustard soon and keep the produce in a safe place. Also, the Meteorological Department says that in Jammu-Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Punjab, arrangements should be made to drain water from the fields, so that the situation of water logging can be avoided. Besides, farmers of these states have also been advised to take the harvested crops to a safe place.
How will the weather be
On Thursday, IMD informed, ‘As was being predicted for the last 5-6 days, clouds have started appearing in the Indian region due to western disturbance. There are chances of rain/snowfall in Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand from night till March 3. Heavy to very heavy rain and hailstorm may occur on March 1 and 2.
It was further told, ‘There are high chances of rain in Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, parts of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh between March 1 and 3. During this period, strong winds and hailstorm may also occur at some places on March 2.
There are chances of moderate rain with strong thunderstorm in Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi on March 1 and 2. At the same time, there may be rain in Northern Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan during this period. There is a high possibility of heavy to very heavy rain/snowfall in Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad during these two days.
