IMD Rain Alert: The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rains, thunderstorms, lightning and heat wave conditions in various states of the country. At the same time, hailstorms and hot nights can also be seen in some states. Let’s know, how is the weather going to be today?

IMD Rain Alert: The changing mood of the weather is also being seen in the last week of April. In such a situation, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued weather warnings for many parts of the country. From April 25 to April 29, heavy rains, thunderstorms, lightning and heat wave conditions may persist in various parts of the country. At the same time, hailstorms and hot nights can also be seen in some states.

Heavy rain and thunderstorms

According to the IMD, strong winds (40-50 kmph, sometimes up to 60 kmph) may blow in Northeast India for the next 7 days along with light to moderate rains. There is a possibility of thunderstorms and strong winds in Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Kerala and Mahe, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Telangana and South Interior Karnataka. At the same time, lightning may strike in Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Lakshadweep, coastal and north interior Karnataka.

Heavy to very heavy rain warning

  • Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland, Mizoram and Tripura are likely to receive heavy rains between 25 and 27 April.
  • Very heavy rains may occur in Arunachal Pradesh on 25 April and in Assam and Meghalaya on 26 April.
  • Sikkim may receive heavy rains on 26 and 27 April, and very heavy rains on 26 April.
  • There is also a warning of heavy rain in Kerala on 28 and 29 April.

Heat wave, humidity and heat alert

The northern, central and eastern parts of the country will remain under the grip of heat wave and severe heat for the next few days. Temperatures may reach dangerous levels in states like Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Bihar, Odisha, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada and Telangana, due to which heat wave conditions are likely to arise. On the other hand, the effect of humidity along with heat will be seen in Jharkhand, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam and Rayalaseema. Apart from this, nights are also going to be hotter than normal in some areas of Gangetic West Bengal and Odisha, due to which normal life may be affected.

Alert of hailstorm and strong storm winds

  • Hailstorm is expected in Jharkhand on 27 and 28 April and in Odisha on 28 April.
  • Strong stormy winds (thundersqualls) may blow in Bihar from 26 to 28 April, and in Gangetic West Bengal, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, East Madhya Pradesh on 27 and 28 April, whose speed can go up to 50-60 kmph.
  • Strong stormy winds are also forecast in South Interior Karnataka on 27 April.
