IMD Weather Forecast: Even after half of the second week of April has passed, tremendous fluctuations in the weather are being seen across the country. On the one hand, the temperature has increased in many states, while on the other hand, the chill of cold winds is still being felt in some states. At the same time, heavy rains and storms continue in many states, which is affecting the daily routine of the people. The Meteorological Department has issued an important warning about the weather for many states today. The effect of storms, strong winds, hailstorms and severe heat can be seen in different parts of the country.

Alert of thunderstorm, rain and hailstorm

• There is a possibility of lightning, strong winds (40-50 kmph) and hailstorm at some places in Bihar on 9 April.
• Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal, Kerala and Mahe, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, Telangana, Karnataka may experience light to moderate rain with thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds (40-50 km/h) on 9 April.
• There is a possibility of light to moderate rain and thunderstorm at many places in eastern and northeastern India from 9 to 12 April.
• There is a warning of heavy rain at some places in Assam and Meghalaya on 9 and 10 April.
• There may be heavy rain in Arunachal Pradesh on 10 April.
• There may be lightning, strong winds (30-40 km/h) and hailstorm in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad.
• Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jharkhand, East Madhya Pradesh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Gangetic plains West Bengal, Odisha, Northeast states, Chhattisgarh, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka are also likely to experience lightning and strong winds.
• Lightning may also occur in Punjab, East Uttar Pradesh, Kerala and Mahe.

Heatwave and hot weather warning

• Severe heatwave conditions may develop at some places in Rajasthan.
• Heatwave to severe heatwave warnings have been issued in many areas of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi.
• Heatwave effects may also be seen in some parts of Vidarbha and Gujarat.
• Hot and humid weather is expected in Konkan and Goa, parts of Madhya Maharashtra.
• Nights are also expected to remain hot in Rajasthan, West Madhya Pradesh, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada.

Stormy weather at sea

• Winds may blow at a speed of 35-45 kmph over west-central Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas, which may reach up to 55 kmph.
• The coastal areas of South Gujarat and North Maharashtra will also be affected by strong winds.
• Fishermen have been advised not to venture into these areas.
