IMD Rain Alert: The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rains in Assam and Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh. While many states including Delhi are experiencing severe heat. The temperature is going to increase further in many places.
IMD Rain Alert: The Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert warning of heatwave and heavy rains in different parts of the country in the next seven days. There is a possibility of severe heat in 11 states including Delhi during the next 24 hours. While there is a possibility of thunderstorms and heavy rains in some states.
Rising temperature in northwestern India
The temperature is expected to rise by 2-3 degrees Celsius in northwestern India in the next six days. Central India and Gujarat may see a rise of 2 degrees Celsius in the next three days, while eastern India may see an increase of 4 to 6 degrees Celsius.
Heatwave alert in 11 states
According to the information given by the Meteorological Department, the effect of severe heat can be seen in eastern Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Odisha, Punjab and Delhi today. Night temperatures are also expected to remain high in many areas of Bihar and Jharkhand between April 24 and 26.
Delhi-NCR weather update
The weather is likely to remain dry in the Delhi-NCR region for the next three days, with the maximum temperature expected to rise to 42 degrees Celsius. A yellow alert for severe heat has been issued for Friday and Saturday. In the last 24 hours, the maximum temperature ranged between 38 degrees Celsius and 40 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature was between 25 degrees Celsius and 26 degrees Celsius.
Heavy rain likely in Northeast India
Heavy rains are likely in Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh from April 24 to 26. Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura may also receive thunderstorms along with heavy rains on April 24. Winds in these states may blow at a speed of 30 to 50 km/h.
Thunderstorms in South India
According to the Meteorological Department, rains with strong winds are likely in the states of South India including Kerala, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Telangana are likely to witness thunderstorms and lightning in the next seven days.
Western disturbance active in North India
Western disturbances can cause lightning, thunder and strong winds in Himalayan states like Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. This weather pattern is happening due to a cyclonic system active over northern and central Pakistan.
