The US State Department on Wednesday clarified that no US government agency or official has sent any letter to Islamabad regarding the current political situation in Pakistan. When asked about the involvement of the US in the purported letter and the no-confidence motion against the PTI government, a US State Department spokesperson said, “There is no truth in these allegations.”
What did Imran Khan say?
Imran Khan addressed Pakistan on Friday. During this, Imran first took the name of America, then said that a foreign country has sent a threatening letter, which is against Pakistan. Imran said that the opposition was already in touch with the foreign country regarding the no-confidence motion. The Pakistani Prime Minister said that the letter was against him and not against the government. It says that if the no-confidence motion is passed, then Pakistan will be pardoned, if it is not done then it will have to face dire consequences. Imran said it was an “official letter” about which Pakistan’s ambassador was informed.
Imran, at a rally in Islamabad, had said that the opposition’s no-confidence motion against him because of his foreign policy was the result of a “foreign conspiracy” and was being funded from abroad to oust him from power. The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-led government said on Wednesday that its allegations of foreign conspiracy against the prime minister were based on a confidential letter received from one of the country’s embassies abroad. The government had initially offered to share the letter with the Chief Justice of Pakistan, but later the prime minister informed his ministers about the letter.
