ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan will take a test for Covid-19 amid fears that he may have contracted the novel coronavirus from a philanthropist who called on him last week to donate Rs 1 crore for the PM’s Coronavirus Relief Fund.
Edhi met PM Khan on April 15 in the PM’s office. Neither of them wore masks and gloves at the time of the meeting.

Faisal Edhi, chairman of the Karachi-based Edhi Foundation and son of the late, much-revered philanthropist, Abdul Sattar Edhi, tested positive for Covid-19 on Tuesday.
“PM Imran Khan has agreed to get tested for the coronavirus after meeting with someone (Faisal Edhi) who tested positive for the virus,” Dr Faisal Sultan, Khan’s personal physician and his adviser on Covid-19, said. Mohammad Bilal, spokesman for the Edhi Foundation, said Edhi took a test for Covid-19 on Sunday, at the Alshifa Hospital in Islamabad.

“We feel he contracted the virus in Islamabad, as he has been there for a week. He was not feeling well as he had a fever. He (Faisal Edhi) said he felt the fever was out of the ordinary,” Bilal said. Edhi has placed himself in self-quarantine at the Edhi Home in Islamabad.

“We have not tested anyone in Karachi yet, neither have we tested his family members here (Karachi),” the spokesman added.
Edhi has been on the forefront in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic with his charity organization. He is also a member of Sindh’s coronavirus emergency fund.
