The Income Tax Department has notified three official e-mail ids on Saturday for lodging complaints. This has been done to improve the experience of taxpayers under faceless assessment.
The Income Tax Department on Saturday notified three official email IDs for taxpayers to file complaints under the ‘faceless’ or e-assessment scheme. Under the e-assessment scheme, there is no face-to-face between the taxpayer and the tax officer.
The department put out a message on its official Twitter page saying, “With a view to further improve the taxpayer services in line with the Taxpayers’ Charter, the Income Tax Department has launched a dedicated faceless scheme for filing complaints in respect of pending cases.” E-mail ID has been created.’ The department said that complaints can be filed under three different email IDs created for this purpose.

Under the faceless assessment system, the taxpayer does not need to visit the office of the department or meet any officer of the department for income tax related works. A central electronic-based system will accomplish this task. This scheme was launched by the central government in 2019.
CBDT issues refunds of over Rs. 45,896 crore to more than 21.32 lakh taxpayers between 1st April, 2021 to 02nd August, 2021. Income tax refunds of Rs. 13,694 crore have been issued in 20,12,802 cases & corporate tax refunds of Rs. 32,203 crore have been issued in 1,19,173 cases.

CBDT said in another tweet that the Income Tax Department has issued refunds of more than 45 thousand 896 crores to 21.32 lakh taxpayers between April 1 and August 2 in the current financial year. The department has issued refund of 13 thousand 694 crore in 20 lakh 12 thousand 802 individual cases. At the same time, refund of 32 thousand 203 crore has been issued in 1 lakh 19 thousand 173 corporate cases.
