ITR: Income Tax Department tweeted on Thursday that CBDT has issued refund of Rs 1,93,720 crore to 2.26 crore taxpayers till 20 March 2022. We are telling you how to check the status of refund.
new Delhi. Income Tax Refund: Income Tax Department said on Thursday that in the current financial year 2021-22 so far, income tax refund of more than Rs 1.93 lakh crore has been issued to more than 2.26 crore taxpayers. According to the Income Tax Department, of these, 1.85 crore refunds worth Rs 38,447.27 crore are for the assessment year 2021-22 (the financial year ending March, 2022).

The Income Tax Department tweeted on Thursday that ‘The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has issued refunds of Rs 1,93,720 crore to 2.26 crore taxpayers during April 1, 2021 to March 20, 2022. This includes personal income tax refund of Rs 70,977 crore and corporate tax refund of Rs 1,22,744 crore.

How to check income tax refund status?
- Taxpayers can follow the steps given below to check the status of refund.
- First of all go to www.incometax.gov.in.
- Login using User ID and Password.
- Click on ‘e-filing’ and select ‘Income Tax Return’.
- Click on ‘View File Return’.
- ETR details will be displayed on the screen.
What to do if refund is not received?
Taxpayers can lodge complaints on incometax.gov.in. They can also use the toll-free number 1800-103-4455 issued by the IT Department. This number can be called on working days between 8 am to 8 pm. Apart from this, complaints can also be lodged on the e-filing portal of the Income Tax Department.
