Explain that the Income Tax Department has extended the deadline for filing ITR many times due to the inconveniences caused to taxpayers due to Corona virus epidemic. The last time the department extended the deadline was at the end of last month.
For taxpayers who do not require an audit, the last date for filing ITR for assessment year 2020-21 was extended to January 10, 2021. At the same time, for taxpayers who need audit, the extended deadline to file ITR for assessment year 2020-21 is 15 February.
Apart from this, the deadline for filing income tax returns for the financial year 2019-20 by the companies has been extended by 15 days to 15 February 2021. The government has also extended the last date for submission of annual return for the financial year 2019-20 to 28 February under the Central GST Act, 2017. At the same time, the last date for declaration under the trust-based trust scheme has also been extended to 31 January.
