India invites UAE to invest in many areas including defense

The Ministry of External Affairs said that the Indian side has invited the UAE to invest more in important sectors of the Indian economy. These include food parks, highways, ports, airports, renewable energy and defense sectors.



Indian Foreign Minister S.K. Jaishankar held detailed talks with United Arab Emirates (UAE) Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan on 17 August 2020. The talks included a number of issues including strengthening strategic ties and the neighborhood situation of the two countries.

The Ministry of External Affairs said that the Indian side has invited the UAE to invest more in important sectors of the Indian economy. These include food parks, highways, ports, airports, renewable energy and defense sectors. Foreign Minister S Jaishankar said at the Joint Commission meeting that I express my thanks to the Government of India and the country for the assistance provided to Indian citizens by the UAE during the Corona epidemic.



Discussion against COVID- 19 epidemic too
In this meeting, both (India-UAE) sides welcomed close cooperation in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic during the last few months and discussed a joint strategy to offset the economic and social impact of the pandemic on both countries . The two sides also discussed regional issues related to their neighborhood and cooperation at the United Nations and other multilateral forums.

Discuss many issues
The Foreign Ministry said in a statement that many issues were discussed in a cordial and positive atmosphere, which reflects the strong bilateral relations between the two countries. Let us tell you that after the UAE’s historic peace agreement with Israel, the foreign minister called Jaishankar on 14 August 2020. After the agreement between Israel and the UAE, the way for the relationship between the two countries to become completely normal has been cleared.



60 billion annual bilateral trade
The digital dialogue between the two countries took place on 17 August 2020 as part of the 13th session of the India-UAE Joint Commission meeting on Commerce, Economy and Technology Cooperation. Relations between India and the UAE have grown rapidly in the last few years. The UAE is India’s third largest trade partner, with increased bilateral investment and annual bilateral trade of approximately $ 60 billion. This influential country in the Gulf region is a major exporter of crude oil to India. Explain that there are 3.3 million Indians living in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
