India (IND) vs New Zealand (NZ), World Cup 2019 Prediction and Probable Playing 11s: In the absence of Shikhar Dhawan who has been sidelined with a thumb injury, India will look to get their combination right when they take on table-toppers New Zealand on Thursday in Nottingham.

ndia will take on New Zealand in the clash of the only two undefeated teams in ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 at Trent Bridge, Nottingham on Thursday.

Recent form

New Zealand are on top of the 10-team World Cup 2019 table with 6 points from 3 matches. The Black Caps opened their campaign, crushing Sri Lanka by 10 wickets in Cardiff in their World Cup 2019 opener.

New Zealand were then tested by Bangladesh in their second match on June 5 but the Black Caps managed a 2-wicket win after huffing and puffing to a 245-run target.

Kane Williamson’s men are heading into their first big test of World Cup, 5 days after their comfortable 7-match win over Afghanistan.

On the other hand, pre-tournament favourites have begun their World Cup campaign with two dominant performances.

After thrashing South Africa in Southampton, India made light work of a challenge from defending champions, Australia on Sunday at The Oval.

Pitch, weather prediction: Trent Bridge, Nottingham

Trent Bridge has provided sporting wickets so far in World Cup 2019. West Indies blew Pakistan away with their pace battery in the first match in Nottingham. However, Pakistan came back to beat England in a high-scoring game. Australia also posted 288 before clinching a 15-run win in the 3rd match held in Nottingham on June 6.

Trent Bridge has provided assistance for pacers and there has been a bit in it for batsmen who were willing to grind it out.

With wet weather forecasted for most of Thursday in Nottingham, expect a lot of swing and seam from the Nottingham wicket.

Rain is expected to play a huge role in Nottingham as a curtailed game is on the cards.

IND vs NZ: Predicted Playing XIs

India are fretting over the thumb injury to Shikhar Dhawan. KL Rahul is the front-runner to replace him at the top of the order. Expect Vijay Shankar to come in place of Dhawan in the playing XI. On the other hand, India might beef up their pace bowling department by bringing Mohammed Shami in after which they might play Ravindra Jadeja as their only spinner.

“As far as batting order goes, KL (Rahul) moves top of the order and there are various options the team can utilise going into the next game,” India batting coach Sanjay Bangar said on the eve of the match.

India: Virat Kohli (c), Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Vijay Shankar, Kedar Jadhav, MS Dhoni, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Shami, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah.

New Zealand: Kane Williamson (c), Martin Guptill, Colin Munro, Ross Taylor, Tom Latham, James Neesham, Colin de Grandhomme, Mitchell Santner, Matt Henry, Lockie Ferguson, Trent Boult.
