Indian Passport Holders: Good news! Indians will get visa-free entry in Russia, check details

Indian Passport Holders: Soon Indians will not need a visa to visit Moscow. People in a group of a certain number can get visa-free entry in Russia.

Travel-Free Visa to Moscow: Russia may soon be included in the countries offering free visa to Indians. The Moscow City Tourism Committee is in talks with the Government of India for a ‘group visa-free system’. Under this system, a group of a certain number of tourists visiting Russia will be allowed to enter Russia without a visa.

Moscow City Tourism Committee Chairman Evgeny Kozlov told news agency PTI-Bhasha during an event on Wednesday (30 January 2025) evening, “When traveling to Russia in a group of tourists, a particular number must be mentioned in the document to make the travel visa free.

For example, the Chinese document should have 10-20 people in the group. We are in talks with the Indian Foreign Ministry to take advantage of this facility, so that a final agreement can be reached on the number of people included in a group.”

61000 Indians reached Moscow in 9 months

He further said that India is an important country and ranks second in terms of source market in distant countries after China. Kozlov said, “India is a priority market for us. China ranks first among distant countries for us, followed by India. Indians spend a lot while traveling. They spend about US $ 2,000 per person, per trip.” He said that during the first nine months of 2024 i.e. January-September, 1.97 crore guests including 61,000 Indians came to Moscow.

He further said, ‘In the last two years, we have made Moscow’s tourism emoze our priority. There have been three reasons behind international tourists coming here. First, we are improving tourism infrastructure, second – we are promoting Moscow in countries like India. And at the same time we are working on bringing in the e-visa regime.’

Moscow city open for shooting

Kozlov said that work is being done to promote Moscow city especially business, wedding, family and film tourism.

Meanwhile, he said, a delegation of Moscow City Tourism Committee is in talks with production houses to invite them to shoot in Moscow city.

Kozlov further said, “We want to attract Indian audiences to Moscow through cinema, so our representatives are meeting with production houses and film directors to invite them to feature Moscow city in their films. We are planning to provide them incentives, which are still under discussion.”
