But this is not possible for everyone, because getting a visa has become the most difficult task in today’s time. But yes, if you have an Indian passport and valid documents, then you can get a digital nomad visa of some countries.

Let us tell you, in 2022, Estonia has become the first country in the world to introduce a digital nomad visa for remote workers, and since then many other countries are also moving towards this initiative. Apart from working in beautiful places, this visa also gives people a chance to get to know another country closely, learn its culture, food and language. Let us tell you about the countries where you can get a digital nomad visa.

Croatia

The Croatia Digital Nomad Visa Residence Permit allows you to live and work in Croatia for six months to one year and acts more like a temporary residence permit than a visa. To be eligible, you must be a salaried employee, freelancer or self-employed person.

Apart from having a valid passport, you must have a minimum monthly income of around ₹2,59,580. Also, you will have to provide a lease agreement of your address in Croatia, which you can also provide online. Once your application is verified, you will also have to register your temporary Croatian address within 30 days.

Germany

Although Germany does not offer a digital nomad visa for remote workers, it has an option called a freelance visa instead. For a freelance visa, one must be in an independent profession (creative, medical, advisory, teaching, technical) and have proof of income for one year (approximately ₹1,15,772). Once you have prepared the required documents, you will have to fill the application form and schedule an appointment at the German embassy. Keep in mind that all documents and forms must be translated into German.

Greece

The digital nomad visa offered by Greece is open to all non-EU residents. To apply for this visa, you need to have proof of employment contract or independent work with a company outside Greece, proof of income (approximately ₹3,16,106), proof of residence in Greece, health insurance, a cover letter, a medical certificate, police clearance certificate certified by the Ministry of External Affairs (New Delhi), and a confirmed return flight ticket.

Indonesia

Although Indonesia does not officially call it a digital nomad visa, remote workers with Indian citizenship can work in the country for up to a year with the E33G visa. This visa requires you to provide proof of funds and a minimum bank balance (approximately ₹1,73,061) as well as account details with an annual income (approximately ₹51,91,830).

Italy

The digital nomad visa offered by Italy allows remote working travellers to live and work in the country for a full year. Apart from a valid passport, you will need to provide two recent colour passport-sized photographs, a filled visa form, an annual income of around ₹22,39,686, health insurance covering medical treatment in Italy, proof of accommodation and work experience of the last six months as a nomad worker. You will need to book an appointment at the Italian Consulate in New Delhi, Mumbai or Kolkata.

Thailand

The Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) of Thailand is a 5-year multiple-entry visa introduced on 15 July 2024 for remote workers. Holders of this visa can stay in Thailand for up to 180 days on each entry. Also, extensions can be taken for an additional 180 days each year at a fee of 10,000 Thai Baht (approximately ₹25,504.58). Applicants must be at least 20 years of age. Also, they will have to show an amount of at least 500,000 Thai Baht (approximately ₹12,75,229) in their bank account and submit proof of employment.
