However, even after adding the brand name to the station name, the original name of the station will remain in the timetable, website, ticket announcements and route map.
Railways will do this unique new experiment
In view of this, in the coming days, passengers can get to see commercial branding on Indian railway stations. According to the guidelines issued by the ministry, the branding of the advertising company will be at every place in the station premises, where the name of the station is written.
This name can be added before and after the name of the station. DMRC (Delhi Metro Rail Corporation) is doing this for the last several years, while the original name of the station will remain in the timetable, ticket announcements and route map.
The special thing is that the railway will not tamper with the heritage building or the names of the stations. No co-branding will be done on stations whose names are named after a popular personality. According to the guidelines issued by the ministry, the branding of the advertising company will be at every place in the station premises, where the station’s name is written.
The brand name will be associated with the station name throughout the premises. However, at the time of co-branding, care will be taken that there is no advertisement of any political, religious, alcohol or tobacco company.
Railways preparing to earn big
No person’s name will also be used in co-branding. In the letter issued by the Ministry of Railways, it has been said that if a station is marked with the name of the legend of the region and the country, then the name of a particular person will not be added before and after the name of that station.
This is exactly the same as the name of the mobile company or other company has been associated with IPL (Indian Premier League) for the last several years. On the same lines, the brand name of the companies will be added with the name of the railway stations.
In exchange for this branding, the railways will earn good profits from the companies. The station will be allotted for branding for a period of one year to three years at a time. During this, the responsibility of maintaining the advertisement panel, hoarding will be of the person concerned.
