Long distance trains in the country are often delayed by several hours. There are many reasons for train delay. But due to this delay, passengers have to face many problems. Many a times, passengers are deprived of important exams, someone misses the interview, many people miss their link train. At such times, the traveler feels cheated.
But if you have information, then by canceling the delayed train ticket, full refund can be recovered. Apart from counter ticketing, it can now be filed for online tickets. For refund of canceled ticket, the passenger has to file TDR.
Process to get full refund for canceled ticket
To file TDR, one has to login to IRCTC website or mobile app, for this go to My Account and select My Transaction option, here you will get the option of File TDR, on which click To do. After filing the TDR, the amount will be credited to your bank account within a maximum of 60 days.
You can take refund if you are more than 3 hours late, you will get the full details of your ticket during the option to file TDR, if your train is more than 3 hours late, you do not want to travel due to the train being late, then in TDR reason Train Late More Than Three Hours is to be selected, if a passenger gives wrong information then his claim will be rejected and account can be de-activated.
If the train is canceled due to any reason, then there is no need to cancel the ticket and file TDR. Whereas the train is more than 3 hours late, due to which you do not want to travel, then TDR has to be filed before the departure of the train.
If the passenger has to travel in a lower class than the ticket, then the difference in fare can be recovered by filing TDR. On the other hand, if the train you are traveling in an AC coach, the AC is not working, then the passenger will have to file TDR during the journey itself.
Rules for Cancellation of Confirmed Tickets and RAC Tickets If the passenger has a confirmed ticket and cancels any ticket, then he will have to cancel the ticket and file TDR four hours before the departure of the train. If the ticket is RAC, then the ticket can be canceled half an hour before, for this TDR can be filed.
