Indian Railway is giving insurance cover of up to 10 lakhs in 35 paise while booking tickets, know what is this policy

Insurance cover: Only Indian citizens who have booked tickets through IRCTC website or mobile app will be eligible to buy insurance cover.


 

Insurance Cover: On one hand, where inflation is touching the sky, there is no value of 35 paise left. But the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) is providing you an insurance cover of up to ₹ 10 lakhs at almost zero premium of 35 paise. In fact, passengers have the option of choosing ‘Travel Insurance’ while booking train tickets through the IRCTC website. If you exercise the option at the time of booking your train, Travel Insurance will be applicable for all passengers booked under one PNR (Passenger Name Record).

Explain that only Indian citizens who have booked tickets through the IRCTC website or mobile app will be eligible to buy the insurance cover. According to the IRCTC website, the policy covers ‘death, permanent total disability , permanent partial disability and injury and hospitalization expenses for transportation of mortal remains while travelling’.


Maximum cover up to 10 lakhs

At the same time, the maximum cover of this policy is up to 10 lakhs, in which you will be given a cover of 10 lakhs for death or permanent total disability due to railway accident or any untoward incident. Coverage of ₹ 7.5 lakh will be provided for Permanent Partial Disability. Coverage of ₹ 2 lakh will be given for hospitalization expenses for the injury. At the same time, coverage of up to 10,000 will be given for the transportation of the mortal remains.
