The Tamil Nadu government has imposed a number of restrictions from January 6 in the state due to the increasing cases of corona virus infection and the new variant Omicron of Covid. The state government has given guidelines to the railways that the suburban train service will run with 50 percent capacity.
Following the guidelines of the state government, the Railways have also issued strict rules. Railway has said in the statement that the passengers will have to show the certificate of vaccination while issuing the journey ticket or Monthly Season Ticket (MST). Tickets will be issued only to those who will have the certificate of vaccination.
Train travel will be more expensive
According to the information, the Railways is now preparing to charge Station Development Charge (SDF) on the lines of private schools. That is, till now you used to pay fare only for the journey of the train, but now you will also have to pay a charge for coming to the station and using the facilities there. According to the Railways, this fee will be different for passengers from different classes. Local train and season ticket have been kept separate from this. Railways will collect this charge in the name of passenger convenience and development fee. This will also be taken for the station which is to be redeveloped.
How much will be charged
According to the Ministry of Railways, an additional fee of Rs 10 to Rs 50 will have to be paid to board the train from the station. If you are traveling by AC class then this charge will be Rs 50. An additional charge of Rs 25 for sleeper class and Rs 10 for unreserved class will have to be paid. This charge will not have to be paid separately, but just like the development charge is included in the school fees, in the same way this charge will be included in the train ticket.
