Railway Kavach Technique: Today was a historic day for Indian Railways. Railways successfully tested Kavach Technique. Two trains were run face to face, in which Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav was present in one train, and other officials including the Chairman of the Railway Board were present in the other train. Let us tell you that Indian Railways was continuously working on armor technology, under which it is moving towards the goal of zero accident in future. Under this, the train collision protection system Kavach (Kavach) was tested on Friday.
Know what is Kavach
In a train collision protection system, if two trains are approaching each other from opposite directions, regardless of their speed, these two trains will not collide because of the ‘armour’. This technology is for automatic braking to prevent over speeding. At the same time, when the train reaches near the gates, the whistle will sound automatically. This technology will not allow collision between two engines fitted with armor technology. Also, will send SOS messages during emergency situations. This also includes operating the train through the network monitor system.
It is worth noting that in the Union Budget of the year 2022, an announcement was made regarding armor technology. Under the ‘Self-reliant India’ campaign, two thousand kilometers of railway network will be brought under Kavach technology. So far, Kavach has been installed on more than 1098 km of route and 65 locomotives in the ongoing projects of South Central Railway. In addition, Kavach is planned to be implemented on the Delhi-Mumbai and Delhi-Howrah corridors, which have a total route of about 3000 km.
