Refund will not be given for less than half an hour

Railways have made rules for cancellation of tickets. It keeps on changing from time to time. In such a situation, before canceling the R ticket, if you know these special rules of the railway, then you will save a lot of money. Before canceling the ticket, it is very important to keep in mind the time. If you cancel a ticket booked 30 minutes before the departure of the train, you get some money back of the value of the ticket, but if less than 30 minutes are left then you will not get a money back. There are different rules for refund according to the reservation class and timing. Ticket cancellation rules

  • According to railway rules, if you have a confirmed ticket and you want to cancel your reserved ticket but less than 4 hours are left for the train to leave, then you will not get anything as refund. If you have more than 4 hours left, you can get up to 50% refund. That is, if you want to cancel the ticket, then take special care of the time.
  • If the ticket is confirmed and the ticket is canceled between 12 hours and 48 hours before the departure of the train, then the Railways will charge a minimum of 25 percent of the ticket value on each passenger or Rs 60 per passenger in case of cancellation of the ticket, whichever is higher.   • If your ticket is of second class and the ticket is confirmed, if the ticket is being canceled 48 hours before the departure of the train, then railways charges different charges according to the ticket class. On cancellation of second class ticket, Rs 60 per passenger, Rs 120 on second class sleeper, Rs 180 on AC-3, Rs 200 on AC-2 and Rs 240 on first executive class is deducted.
  • If you have made a reservation in sleeper class and your ticket is in waiting list or RAC, then you have to cancel the ticket 30 minutes before the departure of the train. For cancellation of ticket before 30 minutes, railways charges Rs 60 per passenger. That is, overall, if you take care of the time in canceling the train ticket, then you will save a lot of money.
