Railway General Manager gave information
Northern Railway General Manager, Ashutosh Gangal said that between April 1, 2021 and December 5, 2021, a ticket checking campaign was conducted in many railway stations and trains, in which a large number of people were caught traveling without tickets. During this, fine was taken from those traveling without ticket and unauthorized. Ashutosh Gangal told that the amount of fine received from ticket checking is more than 100 crores.
Campaign will continue
Ashutosh Gangal also appreciated all the railway employees who made this campaign a success. Railways keeps running such campaigns in all the zones in the country. The Central Railway fined more than 23 thousand passengers for not wearing masks under the Corona protocol and recovered Rs 26 lakh as fine.
In fact, during the festive season, many people are unable to get tickets despite lakhs of efforts, in such a situation they go on the railway journey without a ticket. The Delhi Division of Railways caught 1.42 crore such passengers and recovered a fine of Rs 8.01 crore from them.
How much is the fine?
It is worth noting that if caught by the Railways traveling without a ticket, a fine of at least Rs 250 to Rs 1 thousand is charged. Apart from this, passengers can also be jailed for unauthorized travel in this way or both can be together. If caught, the passenger traveling without ticket is charged the fare from the train originating station to the last station.
