Bullet train News: Bullet train network in India is continuously taking shape. The bullet train project between Mumbai-Ahmedabad is slowly coming off the ground. Apart from this, the government is preparing a plan to approve two more bullet train projects soon.

Two more bullet train projects are likely to be started in the year 2022-23. According to the officials related to the plans, work will be started on two more projects along with the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train corridor.

May be announced in the general budget

It has been told that the New Delhi-Varanasi high-speed rail corridor may be announced in the Union Budget 2022-23. Apart from this, there is also a possibility of connecting the Mumbai-Nagpur corridor by bullet train.

The Railways received a detailed project report on the New Delhi-Varanasi corridor from the National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) in November. According to an NHSRCL spokesperson, a detailed project report for the Mumbai-Nagpur corridor is in the final stages and will be submitted to the Ministry of Railways in the first quarter of the next financial year. The spokesman said that the work of preparing DPRs for five more bullet train projects is also underway and NHSRCL may complete them within 2023.

Rs 1.5 lakh crore project

According to initial estimates, the cost of the Delhi-Varanasi project will be around Rs 1.5 trillion (1.5 lakh crore), while the cost of the Mumbai-Nagpur corridor may be slightly lower.

According to NHSRCL, the detailed project report on the Delhi-Varanasi corridor includes several studies. These include studies on types of ridership, impact on surrounding villages, land requirement, social and environmental impact. At present, NHSRCL is carrying out India’s first bullet train project between Mumbai and Ahmedabad. The project is progressing very slowly due to land acquisition and other problems.
