Indian Railways: Railways has started 2 longer than normal freight trains, which have 117 coaches. The names of these trains are Trishul and Garuda.
Indian Railways: Indian Railways has started two freight trains ‘Trishul’ and ‘Garud’. These goods trains are much longer than the normal structure. These long trains will provide a very effective solution to the problem of capacity constraints in critical sections. Trishul is the first long haul train of South Central Railway consisting of three goods trains i.e. 177 wagons. This train was flagged off from Kondapalli station of Vijayawada division for Khurda division of East Coast Railway on Thursday.
After this, SCR ran another similar train ‘Garuda’ on Friday from Raichur in Guntakal division to Manuguru in Secunderabad division.
Both the long trains mainly consist of empty open wagons for coal mines for thermal power stations.
SCR is one of the five major freight-carrying railways of the Indian Railways. The goods are supplied in bulk from Visakhapatnam-Vijayawada-Gudur-Renigunta, Ballarshah-Kazipet-Vijayawada, Kazipet-Secunderabad-Wadi, Vijayawada-Guntur-Guntakal sections.
Time saving on congested routes, quicker transit time, maximizing throughput of critical sections, saving of staff are the major operational benefits of running trains, which help Indian Railways to better serve its freight customers.
