What is prohibited to carry in the train?

According to the rules of the railways, it is prohibited to carry stoves, gas cylinders, flammable chemicals, firecrackers, things with strong smell (like leather or wet skin), oil, cigarettes and explosives in the train. Apart from this, carrying a special fruit like dry coconut is also completely banned. There is a risk of fire due to the fibrous grass growing on the outer part of the dry coconut. This is the reason why it is prohibited to carry it in the train. The outer fibrous part of the dry coconut is flammable, which can pose a threat to the safety of the train and the passengers. However, you can easily carry other fruits like fresh coconut or other fruits in the train.

Punishment for breaking the rules

If a passenger carries banned items in the train, then the railways can take action against him. Under Section 165 of the Railway Act 1989, if a passenger is found disturbing others after drinking alcohol, then his ticket can be canceled immediately. If he has a railway pass, then his pass can also be canceled. If found guilty, there can be a jail term of 6 months and a fine of Rs 500. Carrying prohibited items can lead to a fine of Rs 1000 and three years of jail or both. If the passenger causes damage to railway property, then the passenger will have to compensate for it.

Strictness on alcohol and intoxication

According to the rules of the railway, no passenger can travel in a train after drinking alcohol or in a state of intoxication. If a passenger troubles others in an intoxicated state, then immediate action can be taken against such people by the railway. If you want to take your pet, then there are different rules for this. Special rules apply for those with AC first class tickets. Carrying some animals like horse or goat is allowed. Carrying gas cylinder is prohibited, but in medical emergency it can be allowed with some conditions.
