New Delhi: There is good news for railway passengers amidst the decreasing havoc of Corona in the country. Train fare may be normal for some time to come i.e. the train fare may be refunded due to Corona crisis. Not only this, the special tag on trains can also be removed.
Significantly, the Railways also took full care of the passengers during the Corona period. Special trains have been run from time to time by the Railways. Presently most of the express and mail trains are running on the tracks. One fourth of these are still running in the category of special trains. According to reports, the Railways may soon decide to stop the operation of special trains.
In fact, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav indicated that these special trains will be closed soon. In fact, in special trains, passengers have to pay 30 percent more fare than normal trains. Railway passengers will benefit greatly from this decision of the Railways.
In March last year, the Railways had stopped the operation of many trains due to Corona. After this, Shramik Special trains started from May 1, 2020, in which the workers were taken to their destination by taking Tatkal fare. Initially only confirmed tickets were issued and after that waiting lists were issued. After which the fare of trains was made expensive by 20 to 30 percent.
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav indicated that now the steps taken by the Railways after Covid will be withdrawn. This will be of great benefit to the railway passengers. They will have to pay less fare for traveling in normal trains. However, passengers will still be required to follow the Covid protocol during the journey.
According to a report, the Railway Minister also said that senior citizens, differently-abled and special class passengers will also get concession in fare as before. The Railway Ministry is monitoring the situation. He said that in the next two to two-and-a-half months, the special tag will be removed from the trains.
