Railway gives customers the facility to change boarding station, under which you can change your boarding point. At the same time, if you board the train from any other station without changing your boarding point, then you may also incur a penalty.
IRCTC has given the facility to revise the boarding station keeping in mind the convenience of the passengers. All those passengers who have booked train tickets online can take advantage of this facility. If you are booking tickets through travel agent then you will not get this facility.
Let us tell you that you can change the boarding station of the train 24 hours before your journey. Let us tell you that once you have changed your boarding station, then you will not be able to catch the original boarding station train.
If you catch a train from any other station without changing the boarding point, then you will have to pay a penalty. Apart from this, the difference of fare between the two stations will also have to be paid.
According to the rules of IRCTC, you can change the boarding point only once. For this, first you go to the official website of IRCTC https://www.irctc.co.in/nget/train-search.
Now enter you login and password and then go to ‘Booking Ticket History’. Select the train and go to ‘change boarding point’. A new page will open, in the drop down select the new boarding station for that train.
After selecting the new station, the system will ask for confirmation. Now you click on ‘OK’. You will get an SMS on your mobile to change the boarding station.
