Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav indicated that now the steps taken by the Railways after Kovid will be withdrawn. This will be of great benefit to the railway passengers. They will have to pay less fare for traveling in normal trains. However, passengers will still be required to follow the Kovid protocol during the journey.
At the same time, the Ministry of Railways is going to re-implement 53 types of concession related facility to passengers. According to the concession, a discount of 25 to 75 percent was given in the basic fare of the ticket, which was stopped after the guidelines of the Corona period.
Now the cheap tickets available to senior citizens, Divyang, sportsmen, media and soldier’s heroines etc. are expected to be available from next month. The Ministry of Railways will re-implement the facilities by removing the special status from the trains. At the same time, long distance train tickets will also be available to passengers through Unreserved Ticketing System (UTS). At present, tickets for select trains are available from UTS only, due to which the burden of fares is high on the passengers.
Let us tell you that physically handicapped passengers get 75 percent discount in sleeper and third AC while 50 percent in first and second AC. At the same time, the person traveling with a blind passenger also got a discount of up to 25 percent in 3 AC class in important trains like Rajdhani and Shatabdi. 75 percent for cancer patients and their travellers, and the same facility is available to thalassemia and heart patients. There is a provision of 40 percent relaxation for men in all categories in senior citizens at the age of 60 years and above and 50 percent for women who are senior citizens of 58 years or more. Up to 50 percent discount is also given to the President, Police Medal and Indian Awardees for Meritorious Services. In this way 53 types of exemption are given.
