Many facilities are provided by the Indian Railways to the people through the IRCTC website and app, with the help of which passengers can easily claim for discounts and refunds on ticket booking. On the other hand, even if you want to travel in Tatkal, Tatkal ticket booking can be done with the help of IRCTC website and app, but if you have not traveled even after booking the ticket, then you have to file TDR to get refund. .
What is TDR?
TDR stands for ‘Ticket Deposit Receipt’, which is the process for claiming refund on tickets booked through Indian Railways or IRCTC . The processing of refund may also take 60 days or more and as per railway rules, TDR can be filed for ticket refund claim.
Process to file TDR
- First, log in to your IRCTC account and click on Book Ticket History.
- Now select the PNR for which TDR is to be filed and click on “File TDR” button.
- Select the name of the passenger from the ticket details to claim TDR refund.
- Now select the list box or if you select other then type the reason and click on submit button.
- Whereas if the selected option is “Other” then a new text box will open.
- The customer can fill the reason details and then click on the submit button.
- The confirmation will be shown to complete the TDR filing.
- If the details are confirmed then click on “OK” in the alert window.
- After successful TDR, PNR Number, Transaction ID, Reference Number, TDR Status,
- Reason will appear on TDR Entry Confirmation page.
What is the percentage of refund available under TDR refund?
It depends on the reason for which you have filed for TDR. If you filed TDR for train and passenger not traveling by more than 3 hours late then full refund of reservation cost will be given in approx 45 days. On the other hand, if a passenger has not traveled on waiting list and RAC ticket, then full refund will be given. At the same time, TDR can also be filed in case of AC not working. However, TDR gets rejected many times due to this reason.
