IRCTC: Under the new system, preparations are being made to provide quality food in long route trains. Agencies will be entrusted with the responsibility of operating pantry cars in trains of different routes.

After this change, breakfast and food will not be prepared for passengers in the pantry cars of trains after the month of June. In the pantry car, water can be heated or tea etc. can be made only when absolutely necessary. IRCTC base kitchens around railway stations will also be closed.
Preparation to operate Pantrycar
After this change, preparations are going on by IRCTC to operate Pantrycar on the cluster. The breakfast and food prepared here will be served to the passengers traveling in the train. Presently there is a similar arrangement in semi high speed train Vande Bharat . There is a provision of hot water in Vande Bharat train, all other things are served to the passengers after the trains are first prepared. After the order of Railway Board, the entire system of catering in trains will change from July.
Quality food will be provided.
Under the new system, preparations are being made to provide quality food in trains of any route. Different agencies will be given the responsibility to operate the Pantrycar. Any agency will have the responsibility of five to seven trains on the same route. Whichever agency will be given the responsibility of a route, it will prepare its own sell kitchen around the station. From here, food and snacks will be prepared and supplied in trains.
On behalf of North Eastern Railway, the responsibility of operating the pantry cars of 80 trains as a cluster has been started. For this, tenders have been invited from different agencies till the due date. The responsibility of trains will be handed over to the agency only on the basis of its experience. The work of the agency will also be checked from time to time. Railway officials said that the base kitchen opened at the cluster will also be subject to surprise inspection from time to time. If necessary, the food samples will be sent to the lab for testing. With this the quality of the kitchen will remain intact.
