While the railway official gave information
Liquor cannot be brought from one state to another through any transport facilities like train, metro or bus. While giving information, Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of Northern Railway, Deepak Kumar has said that carrying liquor in the train is completely prohibited. If any passenger travels with alcohol in the train, then strict steps are taken against him by the Railways.
A fine of Rs 500 will be imposed,
Action will be taken against these people under Section 165 of the Indian Railway Act 1989. Apart from this, if any person is found with any other prohibited item in the train, then a fine of Rs 500 can also be imposed on him. On the other hand, if there is any kind of loss due to this item, then that person will also have to compensate for it.
Many states are dry states
At present there are many dry states in the country like Bihar and Gujarat are completely dry states. If caught with alcohol here, you can get into legal trouble. Apart from this, if the bottle of liquor is found open, then in that case also the railway can impose fine. Apart from this, if the train is going from one state to another, then it can also be a case of tax evasion in relation to alcohol. In such a situation, the culprit will be handed over to the GRP and after that the Excise Department of that state will take action as per rules.
