RKVY was started by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav.
This mission will provide an entry level training with the help of 75 Railway Training Institutes across India.
It seeks to empower youth by providing entry level training in skills relevant to the industry as part of the mission ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of skill development has been included in this mission. This mission will train about 50,000 youths. This mission has been started with the objective of imparting training skills to youth in multiple trades to bring about qualitative improvement. Under this mission, training will be given in remote areas also. It will upgrade the skills of self-employment along with improving the employability of the youth.
Training under RKVY
Under this mission, training will be provided to 50,000 candidates over a period of three years. In the initial phase 1000 candidates will be given training. The youth will be trained in four trades: Electrician, Welder, Machinist and Fitter. The mission involves 100 hours of initial basic training. In later phases, Zonal Railways will include other trades in the training programmes. The youth will be given free training and the participants will be selected on the basis of marks obtained in Matriculation from the online applications received. 10th pass and candidates between 18-35 years will be eligible to apply for this.
