Indian Railways in an another first has launched the high capacity parcel van on the Linke Hofmann Busch(LHB) platform.
The high capacity parcel van was launched at Delhi’s Safdarjung Railway station by Member Rolling Stock, Railway Board, Sh. Rajesh Agarwal and Member Traffic, Railway Board, Sh. Purnendu.S.Mishra
The new high capacity parcel van has been designed and manufactured by Rail Coach Factory, Kapurthala, this is the first ever that a high capacity parcel van on LHB platform.
The new parcel van of the Indian Railways has successfully completed oscillation trials and has been issued with speed certificate by RDSO to run at 130 kmph according to a statement by the Ministry of Railways.
The coach has been made from stainless steel shell on LHB platform for longer life.
To facilitate transportation of wide goods, foldable 2-tier luggage racks have been provided in these parcel van coaches.
These coaches have three collapsible partitions and four sliding doors.
The coach has complete stainless steel interior paneling and fitted with 140 KN air suspension.
