Now railway and plane tickets can also be booked from the post office. All the post offices and sub post offices of Gorakhpur district have been linked with Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) on Post Day week. With the facility of booking railway tickets in post offices, the pressure of congestion at the station counters will be reduced. No need to stand in queue for hours.
Senior postal superintendent Manish Kumar said that a contract has been signed with IRCTC for the service of railways under Jan Suvidha Kendra. After contracting at the central level, all 66 post offices and sub-post offices in the city were contracted with IRCTC during the postal week running from October 11 to 16. Now the post offices are ready for this.
The employees have already been trained. User ID and password have also been provided to the employee by IRCTC. Booking of railway tickets can be done during the working day of the post office. No additional fee will be charged from the customer at the Jan Seva Kendra for ticket booking. He said that preparations are on to open a separate counter for IRCTC in the post offices of the city.
Senior postal superintendent Manish Kumar said that airplane tickets will also be booked from IRCTC itself. No additional payment will be required for this. Booking of railway tickets has started only now. The service of booking for sending any goods from one place to another through railways has not started yet.
