Passengers of Mumbai’s suburban local trains can now watch movies, TV shows and education related programs for free during their journey. Central Railway has started ‘Content on Demand’ infotainment service for this. The Railways has given this information by issuing a statement. Railways informed that Central Railway has tied up with M/s Margo Network Pvt Ltd for providing ‘Content on Demand’ infotainment service through Sugarbox Network mobile app.

It is worth noting that lakhs of people travel in Mumbai local every day, hence it is also called the lifeline of Mumbai. Now a special facility of infotainment has been started to provide entertainment facilities to the passengers. Now the passengers of Mumbai Local can enjoy their long journey while having fun.
Central Railway (CR) General Manager Anil Kumar has given green signal to this service in 10 out of 165 suburban local trains. “Passengers will have to download the Sugar Box app on their devices (like mobile, laptop or tablet etc.), after which they will receive an OTP on entering their mobile number before accessing the free infotainment content,” the railways said. It states that it will not require an internet connection and people will not have to pay any charges for data consumption. That is, you will be able to enjoy videos etc. on the Internet for free.

Passengers are expected to download the application Sugar from Google playstore or AppStore and register it with their mobile phone number wherein they get a One Time Password (OTP) on their phone and after registering with OTP , they can access the content on the platform.

Earlier RailTel had also given this information. RailTel had told that media servers will be installed inside the coaches of trains to provide buffer free internet and entertainment service to the people. Under this, the programs given in the Sugar Box app in mobile will be updated from time to time. This will give the facility to watch new programs. Railways has also announced to start this service at stations fitted with Wi-Fi.
