Indian Railways New Rule: Now you can book unreserved and platform tickets from anywhere, Railways has removed these limits.
Indian Railways has recently taken an important decision to make ticket booking convenient for passengers. It has removed the outer limit geo-fencing distance restriction for travel and platform tickets on the mobile app with immediate effect. Times of India quoted Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Saurabh Kataria as saying that now passengers will be able to book unreserved and platform tickets from any station sitting at home.
Meanwhile, there will be no change in the internal limit of geo fencing. This will last only till the station premises. Passengers will be given the facility to book tickets only from outside. It has been said in the report that earlier the limit of this outer border geo-fencing distance was 50 km. This means that a passenger could book an unreserved or platform ticket from a station which is located within a radius of 50 km from the mobile location. But this ban has now been removed by the concerned authorities.
Railways is also providing the facility to book UTS tickets through mobile phones with internet connection. Through this, passengers will no longer need to stand in long queues to book unreserved tickets because they will be able to book tickets with the help of their smartphones.
The user-friendly UTS mobile app is receiving positive response from passengers. These especially include those who often travel by local trains or who need to book unreserved tickets.
Railways has taken a commendable step towards passenger convenience and digitalization with the removal of outer limit geo-fencing restrictions. After this decision, more passengers are likely to book their tickets with the help of UTS mobile app, thereby getting rid of long queues at ticket counters.
Recently, Railways has also removed geofencing restrictions on the UTSonMobile app, which now allows users to book tickets from any location to any destination. At present 25% passengers use the app. This major change is expected to increase the usage of the app among the public.
