His argument behind the demand to change the designation was that the job of the guard is not only to show the flag and torch for the signal. The designation of the guard has changed from the Railway side. But there has been no change in the responsibilities of the guard. Apart from meeting the needs of the passengers in the train, the responsibility of execution of parcel material, passenger safety and maintenance of the train will also be on the guard.
