Indian Railways, RailWire kiosks: The number of people traveling daily by train across the country is in lakhs. People take the help of railways to go from one place to another.
Now the railway is going to start important service for these passengers at 200 stations. Actually, now passengers will be able to recharge their mobile phones at 200 stations soon. Along with this, you will also be able to pay the electricity bill.
RailTel is going to start Common Service Center (CSC) at these stations. In this, apart from filling taxes, you will also be given the facility to fill Aadhaar and PAN card forms. This is likely to make life easier for millions of passengers. Now passengers will be able to avail important facilities at these railway stations only.
RailTel said in a statement that the scheme has been launched in partnership with ‘CSC e-Governance Services India Limited’ (CSC-SPV) and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. The kiosks will be run by Village Level Entrepreneurs (VLEs).
According to PTI, the services offered by CSCs include booking of travel tickets (Train, Air, Bus etc.), Aadhar Card, Voter Card, Mobile Recharge, Electricity Bill Payment, PAN Card, Income Tax, Banking, Insurance and many more. . The kiosk is named ‘Railwire Saathi Kiosk’ – Railwire is the brand name of RailTel’s retail broadband service.
CSC Kiosks have been made operational on pilot basis at Varanasi City and Prayagraj City stations of Uttar Pradesh. Similar kiosks will be operationalized at around 200 railway stations, mostly in rural areas, in a phased manner, the statement said. Of these, 44 are in South Central Railway zone, 20 in North Frontier Railway, 13 in East Central Railway, 15 in Western Railway, 25 in Northern Railway, 12 in West Central Railway, 13 in East Coast Railway. Also 56 will be started in North Eastern Railway.
RailTel CMD Puneet Chawla said, “People in rural areas are often unable to avail various e-governance services or take advantage of digitization due to lack of infrastructure/resources as well as lack of knowledge to access internet. Difficulty ensues. These kiosks will be installed at rural railway stations with the aim of taking these essential digital services to the rural population.
Let us tell you that RailTail has created one of the largest Wi-Fi networks in the world by providing public Wi-Fi facility at 6,090 stations. Using this existing infrastructure at stations, RailTel, in partnership with CSC, plans to provide broadband services in rural areas.
