Indian Railways: Rail traffic has been affected due to this accident on Rupnagar-Mainpur railway section of Northern Railway. Due to this many trains have to be short terminated on this route. Sabarmati – Daulatpur Chowk – Sabarmati Express running under North Western Railway has to short terminate at Chandigarh itself.


New Delhi. A goods train derailed after stray cattle hit the railway tracks in Rupnagar, Punjab. Rail traffic has been affected due to this accident on Rupnagar-Mainpur railway section of Northern Railway. Due to this many trains have to be short terminated on this route. Sabarmati – Daulatpur Chowk – Sabarmati Express running under North Western Railway has to short terminate at Chandigarh itself.

According to Captain Shashikiran, Chief Public Relations Officer of North Western Railway, the following train services operated due to this incident will remain partially canceled:-

1. Train No. 19717, Sabarmati – Daulatpur Chowk Express, which has departed from Sabarmati on 17.04.22, will be operated up to Chandigarh only i.e. partially canceled between Chandigarh – Daulatpur Chowk.

2. Train No. 19718, Daulatpur Chowk – Sabarmati Express will leave Chandigarh on 18.04.22 i.e. will remain partially canceled between Daulatpur Chowk – Chandigarh.

Let us inform that around 12:35 pm on Sunday night, a herd of bulls suddenly came in front of the goods train. The driver applied the emergency brake to save the cattle, due to which 16 coaches of the goods train went off the track. All the coaches of the goods train were empty, leaving coal at the thermal plant and returning.
