Trains in Winters: East Central Railway has made special arrangements to run trains on time amidst dense fog in winter.
Trains in Winters: As soon as winter arrives, the delay in trains starts. Due to dense fog and bad weather, the delay in trains ranges from a few minutes to several hours. In such a situation, passengers have to face a lot of trouble. However, Railways is continuously working to prevent these problems faced by passengers during cold weather. East Central Railway said that it is challenging for the loco pilot to operate the train amidst dense fog during the winter season. For this, Railways has decided to install fog safe devices in all the engines, so that trains can be run on time.
Fog safe device installed for loco pilot
Birendra Kumar, Chief Public Relations Officer of East Central Railway, said that fog safe device has been installed in all the engines. For smooth operation of trains, provision of fog safe device has been made for loco pilots of 100% mail, express and passenger trains of East Central Railway. Fog Safe Device is a GPS based device, which warns the loco pilot about the upcoming signal. With which the loco pilot controls the speed of the train.
Fog men will be deployed
He said that apart from this, fog men are also being deployed, who will monitor the signal status on the railway line during fog. Continuous patrolling is being done by railway personnel under the supervision of senior officials to prevent rail fractures and to identify them in time. Linemen and Patrolmen have been provided with GPS Tracker, which ensures their own safety as well as the facility to send information immediately in case of special circumstances.
These arrangements were made for winter
To increase the visibility of signals, signal sighting boards, fog signal posts and lifting barriers at busy level crossings have also been made brighter by painting them with a special colour. Kumar said that station masters and loco pilots have been instructed to immediately inform the control room in case of fog. After this, check the visibility with VTO (Visibility Test Object).
