This rule applies to every train ticket, from Vande Bharat to passenger trains. If you make any changes in the ticket within 24 hours of the departure of the train from the station and then you get the ticket cancelled, then your pocket is certain to be cut.
There are many rules of Indian Railways about which common passengers are not aware. There is a similar rule in which if you cancel your ticket long before the departure of the train, you will not get anything. That is, in local language, Railways will give you a refund. About 2.5 crore passengers travel by train every day in the country. This is one of the largest rail networks in the world. In such a situation, Railways has made various rules to manage this entire system. Even daily commuters have no idea about these rules. Regular passengers of Railways will definitely be aware of all the rules like canceling tickets, getting new tickets, changing boarding etc. But, a little carelessness in the rules we are talking about today will ruin your pocket.
Today’s entire story is about the rules for changing the ticket and then canceling it. Generally we all know that when any train leaves its departure station, its chart is prepared about four hours in advance. In such a situation, if you cancel your ticket before the chart is prepared, then as per the rules you will definitely get some amount back. But, in this situation, if you cancel the ticket even before the chart is prepared, you will get zero money. That means lump.
So much money is deducted for cancellation
According to the current rules of Railways, if you cancel the ticket 48 hours before the departure of the train, then the normal charges will be deducted only. At present, if the ticket is canceled 48 hours in advance, then Rs 240 per passenger on AC First Class or Executive Class, Rs 200 per passenger on Second AC, Rs 180 per passenger on SC Third, Chair Car or AC Three Economy, Rs 120 on Slipper Class ticket. There is a deduction of Rs 60 on first and second class tickets.
After this, if the ticket is canceled 48 to 12 hours before the departure of the train, then 25 percent will be deducted as cancellation charge. After this, if the ticket is canceled 12 to 4 hours before the chart is prepared, then 50 percent of the amount is deducted as cancellation charge. Then if you cancel the ticket after the chart is prepared, you get zero refund.
Get zero refund
But, the situation is different here. Here, if you cancel your ticket anytime within 24 to 4 hours, you will get zero refund. Actually, we are talking about the rules regarding changing the boarding station. If you have changed the boarding station in time after booking the ticket, then the rules of a normal ticket will be applicable on your ticket. But, if you took the ticket earlier and get the boarding station changed within 24 to 4 hours of the departure of the train, then the boarding change will be done, but after getting the boarding changed, your plan gets changed and you have to get the ticket cancelled, then such a situation occurs. You will not get any refund. Whereas if you had a normal ticket or you had not got the boarding changed and then got the ticket cancelled, you would have got a 50 per cent refund.
