Indian Railways Says No Service Charge: If you too often travel by train, then this news is for you. Giving great relief to the passengers, the Ministry of Railways has abolished the service charge in premium trains. The Railway Ministry has also issued a circular to the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) in this regard. Let us tell you that before the implementation of this rule, IRCTC charges a service charge of Rs 50 for ordering food and drink while traveling by train.
Now under the new rule, those passengers who have not opted to eat at the time of booking tickets will be exempted from the service charge. They will now get tea and water only at the current price. But for breakfast and food, you will have to pay 50 rupees more as a service charge. Till now a service charge of Rs 50 was levied for traveling in Rajdhani, Duronto, Shatabdi and Vande Bharat trains. However, the service charge will have to be paid for breakfast and food as before.
