Actually, railways deducts different charges on cancellation of tickets for different classes. This charge also depends on how long before the departure of the train you cancel your ticket. Suppose your ticket is of sleeper class and waiting or RAC then you can cancel the ticket up to 30 minutes before the departure of train. For this, a charge of Rs 60 will be deducted from the railways on the ticket.

If you cancel your confirmed ticket 48 hours before the departure of the train, then the charge for different classes is such that Rs 240 on AC first class ticket, Rs 200 for AC two tier and Rs 200 for AC three tier, A charge of Rs 180 is deducted on AC chair car ticket. At the same time, this charge is Rs 120 on sleeper class ticket and Rs 60 for second class ticket.



If you cancel your confirmed ticket 12 hours before the departure of the train, then 25 percent of the cost of the ticket is deducted by the railways. At the same time, if you have canceled the ticket between 12 to four hours of the running of the train, then 50 percent of the ticket price is deducted on it.

Railway rules say that you do not get a single paisa refund on cancellation of Tatkal tickets. At the same time, if the train is canceled in a flood-like situation, then you can get full refund of the ticket money. For this, you have to cancel the ticket within three days from the journey.
