Indian Railways Ticket Train Cancel:Â Railway Board’s EDIP Dilip Kumar says that while making a reservation, apart from the train fare, reservation charges, superfast charges and GST are also taken. When you cancel the ticket, the charges fixed according to the class are deducted from the given amount.
Indian Railways: 20 percent of the people who make reservations for traveling by train are those who later cancel the ticket and the money is refunded to their account. But most people do not know that apart from the ticket cancellation charge, there are some other charges as well, which the railway takes from the passengers while making the reservation but does not refund it at the time of cancellation. What are these charges, let’s know-
Railway Board’s Executive Director Information and Publicity Dilip Kumar says that while making a reservation, apart from the train fare, reservation charges, superfast charges and GST are also taken. When you cancel a ticket, the class-wise charges are deducted from the amount paid by you, along with reservation charges and GST are non-refundable. Apart from this, superfast charges are also levied.
Ticket cancellation charges
If an RAC/waiting ticket is cancelled, cancellation charge of Rs. 60 per passenger will be levied. If a confirmed ticket is cancelled before 48 hours of the train departure, the cancellation charge is Rs. 240 for AC/Executive Chair Car, Rs. 200 for AC 2 Tier, Rs. 180 for AC 3 Tier, Rs. 120 for Sleeper Class and Rs. 60 for Second Class per passenger.
Reservation charges according to class
Reservation charges are levied differently according to the class. Rs 15 is charged in second class, Rs 20 in sleeper, Rs 40 in AC chair car, AC economy and AC third, Rs 50 in AC second and Rs 60 in AC first and executive class. If you have made a reservation in first AC and cancel it, then Rs 60 and GST will not be refunded. Indian Railways takes this charge from you in exchange for convenience. Apart from this, cancellation charge is also deducted from your amount.
Suburban charge in suburban train too
Apart from normal trains, if you make reservation in suburban and local, then reservation charge is taken from you. Rs 15 has to be paid in second class, Rs 20 in sleeper class and Rs 50 in first class.
