There is good news for women passengers traveling in private sector airline Indigo. Now Indigo has announced to provide the facility of booking seats to women passengers during web check-in. Under this, while booking the seat, the female passenger will know which seat has already been booked by women. In such a situation, the woman booking the ticket will be able to select the seat next to the woman as per her convenience. Through this initiative of Indigo, an attempt has been made to ensure the safety and comfort of women in the flight.

What did the airline say?

The airline said in a statement that it has been specially designed for women passengers in accordance with PNR (Passenger Name Record). Through this, an attempt will be made to make the travel experience of women passengers more comfortable. Research was also done before taking such a decision. Let us tell you that this facility will be available only to those women passengers who will do web check-in.

Reason for taking the decision

IndiGo has taken this decision at a time when incidents of misbehavior with women passengers in flights are increasing. For example, in January 2023, a male passenger urinated on a fellow elderly female passenger on an Air India flight. At the same time, in July 2023, a professor sexually harassed a female passenger on a Delhi-Mumbai Indigo flight. Similarly, in September 2023, a woman was molested on a Mumbai-Guwahati Indigo flight.

Let us tell you that according to the data released by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Indigo is India’s largest airline with a 60.5 percent share in the domestic market in the year 2023.
