The Bengaluru-based company said the website has seen a steady increase in the number of users over the past few weeks with over 30 million taxpayers logged into the portal and successfully completing various transactions.
A statement issued by Infosys said, “The portal is making steady progress and due to this crores of taxpayers have successfully completed the transactions. Even after this, the company admits that some users are facing problems. The company is working closely with the Income Tax Department to fix things and improve the user experience.
The company said there has been an increase in the usage of the portal in the last few weeks as several problems faced by the taxpayers have been resolved. Infosys said so far more than three crore taxpayers have logged on to the portal and completed their transactions.
Infosys said that it recognizes the difficulties being faced by some users and has roped in over 1,200 taxpayers to understand their grievances.
The company’s focus is on addressing these challenges quickly, and the company is working closely with chartered accountants to bring the website up to date, the statement said.
It also said that Infosys is committed to continuous progress and more than 750 people are engaged to complete the work of the website.
Infosys was awarded a contract in 2019 to develop the next generation income tax filing system and reduce the processing time for filing returns to one day and speed up the processing of refunds. This portal was launched on June this year.
However, from the day of launch, many problems related to the website are being seen. Taxpayers and professionals using the portal have been continuously reporting discrepancies related to the functioning of the portal.
