Infosys, the country’s second largest IT company, clarified its policy on moonlighting, saying that it has laid off many employees for this reason in the last 12 months. However, the company did not specify the exact number of employees to be fired due to moonlighting.
On Moonlighting, Infosys CEO Salil Parekh said that we never support doing two jobs at the same time. If any employee is found doing two jobs simultaneously, then it is a confidentiality issue and we have shown such employees out of the organization. However, the company backed off working in a gig project with Job. To this, Parekh said that any employee who wants to work in a gig project along with his job can do so after the permission of his manager.
Wipro has also taken a similar step
Earlier, another major IT company of the country, Wipro, had laid off about 300 of its employees due to moonlighting. The company called Moonlighting a betrayal of employees and also said about the fired employees that they were working with our rival companies. At the same time, the country’s largest IT TCS has also adopted a strict attitude towards moonlighting. Told them it was against the policy of the company.
