iPhone users alert! Update the phone immediately, the government has given a warning!

The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has issued a security warning for iPhone users in India. Ignoring these warnings can put you at risk of hacking. In such a situation, users will have to update the phone immediately.

In its official website, CERT-In has said that older models such as iPhone 6s, iPhone 7 series, iPhone 8 series and iPhone SE first-gen are at risk. They have to be updated.

To update iPhone, users have to go to Settings > General > Software update. Along with this, iPad Air, Pro and Mini users have also been advised to update to the latest version of iPadOS. Only the iPhone method will work for the update.

CERT-In has said that due to ‘Improper input validation’ in the kernel and ‘Improper state management in issue in WebKit’, there are flaws in Apple iOS and iPadOS.

Kernel is the core of any operating system, whereas WebKit is the core technology behind Apple Safari browser. The security agency has said that by taking advantage of the vulnerabilities, attackers can execute arbitrary code on the target system.

That is, hackers can take complete control of the device. CERT-In has told this high level warning. The warning from the government comes days after Apple released new iOS updates for iPhones.

Apart from iPhone, iPadOS updates have also been released. Apple’s support page states that the vulnerabilities were discovered by researchers from security firm Kaspersky.
