Toll free number 18002666868 has been issued by the Department of Posts for the convenience of the account holders. Any account holder will be able to get information related to accounts by calling from the registered mobile number. Krishna Kumar Yadav, Postmaster General, Department of Posts, Varanasi Zone said that the toll free number has been issued only to make the post office savings schemes more accessible and customer-friendly.
Toll free number has been started in Hindi and English language for the convenience of the people. Along with information about the balance in the accounts, the last four transactions, interest, tax deducted and the status of checks issued in the accounts and its stop payment request can also be made.
Apart from this, the facility of taking a new ATM card of the postal department, changing the PIN and blocking the ATM card is also being made available through this toll free number.
More than 31 lakh account holders in Varanasi region
The Postmaster General said that more than 31 lakh accounts are operated in the post offices of Varanasi, Chandauli, Jaunpur, Bhadohi, Ghazipur and Ballia districts falling under Varanasi zone. Such account holders who have not linked their account with mobile number, they should immediately get it linked by visiting the post office so that they can also avail these facilities.
