The Railways introduced a set of new guidelines last year, which included that Travel Ticket Examiners (TTEs) cannot check tickets after 10 pm (not applicable for passengers boarding a train after 10 pm). Middle berth passengers can sleep in their berths after 10 pm till 6 am. And if someone misses a train, TTE can allot his seat to others only after one hour or after crossing 2 incoming stations (whichever is sooner).

The new rule is to ensure the convenience of other passengers, especially senior citizens. Reportedly, the passengers often turn on their lights after 10 pm and disturb the sleep of everyone in the coach and adjoining coaches.
Keeping these issues in mind, the Railways has issued new guidelines. In cases where passengers do not follow the rules; Action will be taken against them. During night travel, passengers are not allowed to talk loudly or listen to music without headphones. If any passenger complains about any other passenger then it will be the responsibility of the staff present in the train.
