Due to the distance of the boarding station, there is also the fear of missing the train. But now it is not so. Now you can catch a train from any other station instead of the original station. If you catch a train from another station, neither your ticket will be canceled nor the railway will be able to charge a fine for it. Till now, to change the boarding station, you have to get the ticket changed, otherwise you may be fined.
So if the train stops at any of your nearest station then you can get your boarding station changed.
IRCTC gives the facility to change the boarding station. This facility is for all those passengers who have booked train tickets online and that too on their own. This facility will not be available on tickets booked through travel agents.
How to change station
If you want to make changes in your boarding station, you have to make changes online 24 hours before the departure of the train. Keep in mind that once you change your boarding station, they cannot catch the train from the original boarding station.
If you catch a train from a station other than the boarding station without changing the ticket, you will have to pay the penalty as well as the difference in the fare between the boarding point and the revised boarding point.
According to the rules of IRCTC- Change in the boarding station can be done only once, so whenever you make changes be completely sure. So let us now tell you how you can change the boarding station in the online ticket booked from IRCTC.
How to change boarding station
- If you have booked tickets online, then you can also change the boarding station by going online. For this you have to go to IRCTC website www.irctc.co.in/nget/train-search. Now open your account here using login and password.
- Now you have to select your train by clicking on ‘Booking Ticket History’ option and go to ‘change boarding point’.
- A new page will open here. Now in the drop down select the new boarding station for the train from where you want to catch the train. After selecting the new station, the system will ask for confirmation. Now you click on ‘OK’. And on doing this, a message will come about the change of your boarding station.
