Service Charge On Food: Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) will no longer be able to recover additional charges of Rs 50 on catering service. In this regard, the Indian Railway Board has issued an order to IRCTC. In trains like Vande Bharat, Duronto, Rajdhani and Shatabdi, those who did not opt ​​for catering service were charged an additional Rs 50 on tea. This step of the Railway Board will give relief to the passengers traveling in these trains.

Prohibition on recovery of service charge

Now IRCTC will not be able to recover the service charge in premium trains. Railway has also issued circular in this regard. Let us tell you that before the implementation of this rule, IRCTC used to charge a service charge of Rs 50 on food and drink orders. This service charge is levied from those passengers. Those who did not tick the option of food while booking tickets.

Food becomes expensive in railways

On one hand, the railways abolished the service charge on tea and water, while IRCTC has increased the price of food available in the train. Passengers will now have to pay Rs 50 more for breakfast and food.

IRCTC bill went viral

A few days back, a bill became quite viral, in which tea was Rs 20 and a service charge of Rs 50 was charged on it. There was a lot of criticism from IRCTC regarding this bill. In July 2022 itself, the Central Consumer Protection Authority had banned the service charges levied in hotels and restaurants.
